The portrait of Schelling on the home page was painted by Joseph Karl Stieler in 1835. It is in the public domain — the painter died in 1858, and the term of protection of 70 years after the author’s death expired long ago.
The photograph used here comes from Wikimedia Commons, where it is marked as public domain. For faithful reproductions of public-domain visual works, § 68 UrhG (German Copyright Act) expressly excludes a separate right in the digital copy.
